Dazzle

Hi all. I love the weather here in New Jersey today. Also today is my parents anniversary and they are here with me. The drizzles, fog  and the occasion have set my mood for the day. So here is the card for today. 

Inspiration

Thanks to the electrifying runway picture @ RIC # 36 challenge this week. The colours used on the flower are all obviously influenced by the picture. Also the shape of the flower is sort of triangular, which is again inspired by the triangles on the outfit. I had inked a textured white card stock with red and purple to match the BG in the inspirational picture. Then with baby pink and light purple for the inner petals. I teased the edges of the flower with scissors for effect.

Loaded and Embellished

Hi all and I am back with a card for this Monday's challenge @ 365 cards for the week.

The challenge for today is "Bulky" - which requires you to create a card that has some serious weight to it. Load it up with the heaviest embellishments you can find in your stash. I gathered all the large embellishments that I have first; then chose those which best complimented with each other and assembled them all together.  Here is a close up of the card.

I had inked up the flower with wild honey distress ink to make it bright. Then added  pearl white sticklers to it to add interest. The ribbons in the background are my favorite on this card.

Happy Memorial Day !

Hi all and wish you a happy memorial day and long weekend. Before signing off for the week, I would like to share a card for the occasion.

I made this card for the CFC 102 challenge - Red, White and Blue. So I had a little card piece embossed over which I used a sticker ('Hooray for the....' which perfectly went with the challenge), gems and a simple stamped sentiment.

Neon Bright - Paper piecing

Hi all. Here is the card for today that I made using techniques which I seldom use often.

This week @ 365 cards we need to create a card which is frame-able - i.e Create a card (a work of art) that you would consider worthy of framing and hanging on the wall. Do join the fun @ 365 cards this week. This is completely subjective, so it's totally up to you.

Coming to my take on the challenge, I thought of birds perched on tree, coloured subjects but din't trigger the idea for a such a card. Then I was surfing through the challenges when I came across "Pinspired Challenge #9". And their inspiration photo (below) immediately stemmed a  flower inside my mind.

How I made the card?

I hand-sketched flowers of different sizes on pink and orange neon papers, which I had cut in layers (paper piecing) to make the big flower. I simply stamped the background with birthday song lyrics, polkadots, leaves and added crystals around the flower. I had inked the edges of the base with distress ink and then teased the edges a bit, which added depth to the border.

CAS-ual Fridays 100th Challenge

Hi once again. My second post for the day. This is my last minute entry into one of my all time favourite challenge blog's 100th challenge - CAS-ual Fridays. How could I not join their 100th challenge? ;-)

This 2 week CFC 100th challenge requires us to create a project by combining the themes from any row of our choice.

            

I have chosen the very first vertical row- 'Polka Dots :: Square Card :: Birthday'.  So on the 3.5" x 3.5" white square card I have added pieces of 2 black and white polka dots washi tapes. Then I have added the colourful punched butterfly over the tapes and stamped the birthday sentiment on the card.

Squared and twisted.

Hi all. Here is the card for this Monday's challenge at 365 cards. 

So today we have a shape challenge - "Monday Squared", for which you must use at least 5 squares on your card, anyway you want. I have got 8 squares on my card, all stamped on my shiny pearl white cardstock. I have got the border squares smoothed with a black pen. Squares all too symmetrical, so I tried to get things crooked on my card to break the discipline (hence the sentiment and the faux stitches are twisted). Good Bye !

Hi all. Here is another card for today! After a long time I have coloured an image on a card. So here is the tulip that I have coloured using water colours and then the simple sentiment stamped beside it.

Most of the time was spent on just colouring the image. I have used a tooth pick along with the brush for those thin lines and extra shading, for a change.

Happy Together

Hi all and here is the card for today. This card is for my friend, Chandu, who is getting married tomorrow and is celebrating her Mehendi (kind of a traditional bachelorette party) in India right now.

This card was inspired  by the pinspiritational pic @ the pinspired challenges. The colour pencils in the picture triggered this idea of colour waves intertwining together and that's how the card took shape.

Hi all. Hope you are enjoying spring as much as I am. So here is the card for today.
