White on colours.

Hi all. I had fabulous weekend with my family and friends who visited us yesterday. Oh, its a fun time at home. Hope you guys had a great weekend too. So here is the card for today.

Both @ 365 cards this Monday and CAS-ual Fridays this week, we have the same challenge 'Over the edge' - which says that we must create a card with an element that goes off the edge of the cardfront. So I am submitting this card for both these challenges.

The choice of all three colours on the card is totally influenced by The Play Date Cafe Challenge # 187 for the  week.

I am also submitting this card for the 3rd challenge - Mixy-Match Challenge @ Moxie Fab world.  Join the fun guys. Hope you liked my card. Your opinions about the card matters. Thank you for peeking in.

Thinking of you

Hi all. Have you checked out the RIC#38 - Burberry Prorsum Resort challenge this week? It was a love at first sight with the outfit. Wow, sober colours brilliantly executed. So I had to get my hands on my stash to create a card for the challenge. Here it is.

I first found paint chips with the closest colours to match the outfit. The skirt had a little embossed effect, so I scored a paintchip with my scoring board and then inked the surface with white pigment ink to enhance the texture. Then I heat embossed other paintchip with white embossing powder using the quatrefoil Background rubberstamp from stampabilities. The peach colour bag inspired the little flower on the card.

The layout of this card is cased from the retrosketches challenge # 68 this week.

I am also submitting this card for this week's CFC # 106 - Over the edge this week. The flower over the edge can be seen more clearly in the front view below

Hope you liked my card. Your opinion about the card matters. Thank you for peeking in.

An accident - A coincidence

Hi all. Today I have a coincidence to share. I was musing over the runway inspired challenge, when I happened to go through the flickr gallery of Aga, who is their design team member. Then I came across this card of her which has put me to a shock and surprise at the same time. I happened to make a similar or rather the same card for 365 DT in April 2013 here

Here is a snap shot of both the cards.

My Card - April 2013

My card was inspired by this sketch (mentioned in my blog post)

Both of us drew inspirations from totally different sources. How we were inspired is clearly mentioned in our respective posts. Wow! I never thought such a coincidence is possible. I mean, look at the layout, width of those colour strips and how they were arranged; the cardstock colour et al. I did case a few of her cards previously, since her cards are just awesome and inspire the card maker in me. But this one is just a coincidence, and a strong one at that. Read both the stories and you will be awed too. I wonder if such an accident has ever happened to anyone of you here. Share your opinion with me.

Vintage card for Grandfather

Hi all. It's a bright day in Jersey today. Oh, I badly needed sunlight today as for the past 5 days I have only experienced thunderstorms and rains both in Charlotte and Jersey. Here is the card for today.

The week's Tuesday Trigger @ Moxie Fab World kept me calling since I first saw it a few days back, but travelling kept me busy. The bright day set my mood and I began with making the card today. Isn't the 'Vintage Vagabond' inspiring?

A straight view of my card here.

The black and white plates in the trigger are my inspiration for using the handmade stamped flower and newspaper in the background. The lines in the BG gave the idea for arranging the newspaper pieces. I have painted the die cut leaves in gold with a stick. Obviously the idea is triggered by the vintage brass in the picture. I have sprayed dark brown mist on the paper and vaguely painted gold here and there to enhance the vintage look on the card. The paint also added some texture. Take a closer look at the card on the left which shows the texture clearly.
I will be presenting this card to my grandfather for his birthday on June 30th. Hope you liked my card .Your opinion about the card matters. Thanks for peeking in.

Fairytale Moments

Hi all. I loved father's day this year. We have been to Biltmore House and Antlerhill Village, NC, where my dad enjoyed the architecture of the building and did some wine-tasting for the first time :-D. 12 hours just flew by. Now let's get back to the card for today.

This Monday @ 365 cards we challenge you to create a card with the theme "Fairy Tales: Romantic" - which requires you create a card with the romantic aspect of fairy tales. Lovely! So showcase your fairytale creations here @ 365 cards and join the fun.

How I made the card?
So I browsed for Cinderella's (My fav) ball room dancing over the internet and found the image on the card. I got a colour printout of the image, which I cut out very carefully. Then went over loads of pattern paper and got the BG of the card set up with one. I inked the edges of the card with distress ink. The sentiment is a sticker. The PTI stamps on next to the sentiment in sepia added more elegance to the card. Then placed a little blue butterfly and added some clear rhinestones here and there. Since I wanted more sparkling on the card, I also traced along a few lines on the pattern paper with silver sticklers.

Picked 3

Hi all. This week's Monday challenge @ 365 cards made me dig all my stash and use the stuff which was lying at the rock bottom in my shelf. Here is the card for today.

This Monday's challenge @ 365 cards is "Pick 3" - Select 3 never before used items from your stash to add to your card. Anything else goes.

How I made the card?
I never really used pom-poms on my card before. Eyelets have been purchased long back and the packet was never opened. Then I remembered that Paint chips that I had collected from time to time, have not been used for a really long time now. So I have used a paint chip to make the circle punched BG.

Also, there is a 4th tool that I have used for the first time on this card. I have always used a tooth brush for the mist effect on my cards. But here I have used a mist spray bottle for the first time. I doodled a bow and a pearl necklace below the pom-poms to give the Mr and Mrs effect. And they lived happily ever after, together forever on my card :-)

I had to struggle to make this card with unused stuff, but it was fun as well. You too hop in and join the fun @ 365 cards blog. Hope you like my card. Your opinion about the card matters. Thank you.

Congratulations - Banners

Hi all. I simply couldn't resist the CFC Challenge # 104 this Friday, as its about banners and flags, which happens to be my favourite. So here is another card for today.

Obviously my card is submitted for the CFC 104 challenge.

I saw the challenge and I instantly hopped in to make this card. I simple cut out multiple banners from various pattern papers, of various sizes. I had to arrange them all and adhere them around the tooth picks, which is my flag-post. Then I stamped the sentiment, designs and did some doodling to add more interest.

Hope you liked my card. Your opinion about the card matters. Thank you.

Update
This card won the VIP - CFC #104 favourite spot for the week here.

10 Happy Minutes

Hi all. How's your day? I am having so much fun with my parents here at home. It's their first trip abroad and they are enjoying weekend trips, weekday shopping, parks and climate in USA.

Anyways, here is the card for today.

As the sentiment on the card goes, "A good life is a collection of Happy Moments". I think the selection of this sentiment is influenced by the ongoing vacation with my parents. I made this card for the 10 minute Craft Dash challenge # 19

Below is the screen shot of the time it took me for making this one layer card. I have again used just the PTI stamps for making this card. I fell in love the PTI stamps.

Fabulous day !

Hi all. I have finally got my PaperTreyInk stamps, ink-pads and die cuts on Thursday (30 May) and I was so excited and couldn't wait to get my hands on them all. Oh, I just love them. Here is the first card that I have made using only PTI stamps, die-cuts and ink-pads.

This Monday we have a combo challenge in 365 cards. I was asked to choose any sketch + another challenge from Feb-April 2013 challenges in 365 cards for the Monday. So I have chosen Day 113- Doodle-Y-Do & Day 83 Super Sketchy Sunday to make this card. So I have doodled around the stamped flowers and the sentiment, in black. The sentiment used on this card reflects my mood.

Do showcase your creations here @ 365 cards. Hope you liked my card. Your opinion about the card matters. Thank you.
